Our Story

A school that grows with your family

Ashbury College independent school campus in Fairleads, Benoni

Ashbury College was established in 1994 as an independent combined school in the heart of Benoni, Gauteng. From our youngest learners in the ECD Centre through to our Matric class, we are committed to your child's wellbeing and growth, in mind and in spirit.

Ashbury is small enough to be a community and large enough to offer the full breadth of academic, sport and cultural life. We believe rigour and warmth aren't trade-offs. Our classrooms are calm, our teachers know every story, and our families return, year after year.

We follow the CAPS curriculum across three phases on one campus: an Early Childhood Centre, a Preparatory School, and a High School for Grades 8–12. Together, they form a complete journey from a child's first steps to the moment they walk across the Matric stage.

Ashbury College is UMALUSI accredited and a proud member of ISASA, the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa.

Mission, vision & values

Mission

To provide a holistic, values-based education in a caring environment where every learner is encouraged to reach their full potential: in the classroom, on the sports field and in cultural life.

Vision

To grow responsible, compassionate and reflective learners who bear fruit and become valuable members of society, from a small seedling at ECD to a strong, fruitful tree at Matric.

Values

Our Christian faith guides everything we do. We nurture integrity, compassion and a love of learning, building learners who are kind, collaborative and ready to serve others.

About ThriveEd

A ThriveEd Learning Community

Ashbury College is proud to be part of ThriveEd, an independent school group united by one bold purpose: delivering an education to thrive, for all.

Unlike traditional school chains, ThriveEd doesn’t replicate a single model across campuses. Each learning community is built with its own identity, vision and culture, empowering school leaders to serve their communities with creativity and care. All ThriveEd schools are united by the Thriveway framework: a rigorous, research-based approach to educational excellence that keeps every child at the centre.
