Promotion of Access to Information Act

Your right to request access to records held by Ashbury College.

What is PAIA?

The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (“PAIA”) gives every person the right to request access to records held by a public or private body, where that information is required to exercise or protect any right. Ashbury College, as a private body, is required to make certain information available in terms of PAIA.

Our Information Officer

Requests for access to information held by Ashbury College should be directed to our Information Officer:

Mr Cecil Behrens

How to submit a request

To request access to a record, you must complete Form C (the prescribed request form under PAIA) and submit it to the Information Officer at the address or email above. Form C is available from the Information Regulator of South Africa or on request from our office.

Your request must include:

  • your full name and contact details;
  • a description of the record(s) you are requesting;
  • the right you are seeking to exercise or protect, and why the record is required for that purpose;
  • the form in which you wish to receive access (e.g. copy, inspection); and
  • proof of identity.

A request fee and access fee may apply as prescribed by PAIA regulations. We will respond to your request within 30 days of receipt.

PAIA Manual

Ashbury College maintains a PAIA Section 51 Manual which sets out the categories of records held by the school and the procedures for requesting access. The manual is available on request from the Information Officer.
